Terms & Conditions

The Lancashire Service Finder brings together information about Lancashire County Council and external services that benefit the residents of Lancashire, children and young people and their families with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) into one place. From advice on living a healthier life and finding your local community group to getting support for your child or accessing equipment you need, the Lancashire Service Finder can help.

  • Lancashire County Council does not recommend or endorse any service, organisation, group, helplines, activity, event or provider listed in its directory. 
  • Lancashire County Council is not responsible for, and accepts no liability arising from, the use of any service, organisation, group, activity or event listed in its directory.
  • Any submitted information will be used to verify service details, but LCC will not vet the activities of services or venues not directly managed by the council. Service users are responsible for making their own enquiries and conducting their own due diligence to ensure services meet their individual needs and requirements. Service users are advised to read our stay safe guidance for attending a club, activity or service.
  • Lancashire County Council reserves the right to update the Lancashire Service Finder terms and conditions at any time.

Information for services and users 

  • We welcome new listing requests for our Service Finder and any suggested changes to listings from service providers and members of the public.
  • As part of your inclusion on the Service Finder, the services should support the residents of Lancashire including families, children and young people, vulnerable adults and children with SEND.
  • This is a local directory for services across Lancashire but may include some national services. If we do include national websites and services, we would normally expect these to be maintained and managed by a registered charity and/or accredited body.  
  • If applicable, services should be verifiable with an Ofsted or CQC registration.  
  • To register your service, fill in the form on the ‘Add a Listing’ page. An active and up-to-date email address is needed to complete your submission.  
  • In submitting information about a service, group, helpline, organisation or activity, you agree and confirm that:
    - All content submitted is accurate, true and up to date. 
    - If your content contains opinions, these are your own and genuinely and truly held by you. 
    - All content is original to you and you are fully entitled (and have all necessary consents) to submit the content (you must also have the consent of anyone featured in the content to provide this to us) and you are agreeable for this to be used as set out in the terms. 
    - Nothing in the content will infringe the copyright, or any other right, of any person, breach any contract or duty of confidence, be defamatory, obscene, offensive, indecent, harassing, threatening, breach anyone’s privacy or may constitute a contempt of court or be calculated to bring any person into disrepute. 
    - All content submitted by you may be used on this website in any way required.

Adding, removing and making changes to a listing

  • New listing requests should be made using the ‘Add a Listing’ form. You shall fully and accurately complete the form. The information will be reviewed by Lancashire County Council within 10 working days. During this time, Lancashire County Council may contact the service directly via email and/or phone to confirm that the details provided are legitimate and correct. Should this be the case, publication of a listing may exceed the 10-day review process.
  • Should a published listing need to be amended or varied at any time, a submission should be made using the ‘Suggest a Change’ form that can be found within each listing. Submissions will be reviewed and responded to within 10 working days. During this time, we may contact the service directly via email and/or phone to confirm that the suggested changes are legitimate and correct. Should this be the case, publication of the changes may exceed the 10-day review process.
  • Lancashire County Council aims to publish new listings and/or changes to published listings within 10 working days, however must be satisfied that the information provided complies with the terms and conditions set out in these terms.  
  • Lancashire County Council reserves the right to decide to accept and publish new listing requests and suggested amendments or variations to listings within the period set out in these terms.  
  • Similarly, Lancashire County Council reserves the right to not publish new listing requests and suggested amendments or variations to listings within the period set out in these terms. 
  • Lancashire County Council reserves the right to edit or remove content that does not meet directory standards or policies. Lancashire County Council reserves the right to not publish your information. Content may be edited, moderated, removed at our absolute discretion.
  • Listings will be reviewed on an annual basis and services will be required to update their listing where appropriate to avoid it being removed. Notification emails will be sent out prior to this happening.
  • If you wish to remove your listing from the directory, please fill in our ‘Remove a Listing’ form.

Privacy and Cookies

  • Lancashire County Council are the data controllers and PPL Ltd are the data processers . PPL are the provider of the Lancashire Service Finder directory solution. This is an external system accessed through the Lancashire County Council website. PPL provide the system and Lancashire County Council are responsible for maintaining the content, within the scope of GDPR regulations.
  • The Lancashire Service Finder is hosted as a subdomain of the main Lancashire County Council website.
  • Information published on The Lancashire Service Finder is publicly accessible online. While the data is in the public domain, the platform also supports Open Referral formats, allowing data exchange with other directories (though no formal agreements are currently in place). This helps reduce duplication and the need for services to register in multiple places. Lancashire County Council therefore reserves the right to share both public and private lists with other public bodies, where the information is already publicly accessible. If you would like more information about the Open Referral format and/or are interested in sharing your directory in this format, please use the 'Contact Us' form.
  • The Lancashire Service Finder uses cookies. Cookies are pieces of information that a website transfers to the cookie file on your computer. Cookies enable users to navigate around websites and (where appropriate) enable People Places Lives (PPL) to tailor the content to fit the needs of visitors who have accessed the Site and help People Places Lives improve the user experience. Without cookies enabled we cannot guarantee that the Site and your experience whilst visiting it will be as we intended it to be. Any cookies used are for the benefit of the user's experience on the Site and are not used to provide advertising.

    - To allow users to log in to the Site, to use the shopping basket and related features.
