The Lancashire Carers Service (N-Compass)

We’re here to support you in your caring role for as long as you choose, while helping to protect your health and well-being. We understand that being a carer can be both rewarding and challenging. Our team offers expert information, guidance, and a wide range of personalised support to make life a little easier.

We take the time to listen, understand your needs, and create a tailored support plan just for you because every carer’s journey is unique.

What can we offer?

  • Community connections: we’ll help you connect with local services and friendly community groups to support both you and the person you care for.
  • Regular newsletter: keep informed with updates, useful information and upcoming event.
  • Emergency & future planning: feel more prepared with support planning for both urgent and long-term situations.
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy: access Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to understand thought patterns and make positive changes to support your well-being as a carer.
Online resources: access a range of helpful information and tools whenever you need them
Statutory Adult Carer’s Assessment and support plan: have your assessment with one of our experienced and compassionate team members, who will help you explore how your caring role affects you, understand your needs, and create a support plan tailored to you. We’ll share the assessment with the council to ensure everyone works together to support you.
Pen Pal: exchange handwritten letters with a caring volunteer here to offer a personal touch.
Support for former carers: receive guidance, emotional support, and practical help as you adjust to life after caring, with access to information, training, and opportunities to stay connected.
Information & advice: receive guidance on topics like benefits, legal rights and more.
Dedicated support: get personalised one-to-one support to help you in your caring role.
Activities & training: enjoy social events and learn new skills in a relaxed setting, online and face-to-face.
Online community: join our Carers Community Network to share and connect online.
Carers Help and Talk (CHAT) Line: speak with a friendly volunteer here to offer a listening ear over the phone.
Carers’ Voice: tell us what matters to you so we can shape our services, and help other organisations do the same, to better support carers like you.
Volunteering opportunities: share your time and skills to support others and make a difference.
Time for you and peer support: help to take a well-deserved break and meet other carers who truly understand, with support from our regular local Coffee & Chat sessions, and volunteer Sitting-In service (for those caring for someone over 18). You can also enjoy a short break, a night or two away in a UK hotel through our partnership with Carefree (a small admin fee applies).
