Female Friendship Forum
Supporting the physical and mental health of women in Pendle and Burnley.
The group delivers excercise classes including pilates, yoga, HITT, dance, aqua aerobics and swimming. There are weekly walk and talk sessions led by qualified walk leaders.
The group also hosts weekly coffee mornings including Midful Mandella arts at the Nelson Family Hub and The Zone on Mondays open to all women. There is a weekly Garden Club and Food Safari and arts and crafts classes for both women and children at Nelson Library.
The group also take women and children on outdoor activities including visits to Harwes Farm to undertake forest school activities like cooking on a campfire, relaxation, meditation, hiking and tree planting.
We lead walks and hikes to places including the Lake District, Pendle Hill, Wycoller, Malham Cove and Ingelton Falls. We also have cultural trips allowing women to explore new areas they could visit, raising their aspirations and improving their health and wellbeing.
We have a programme of healthy eating and cooking classes and these are currently being delivered on a monthly basis. There are self-care activities for women and we have been working with Lancashire Mind delivering a series of workshops to improve women's mental health.
We have also delivered practical self-care sessions including group facials, manicures, massages, pedicures, hair conditioning and tips on dressing well on a limited budget. We develop volunteers to deliver activities with training in things such as first aid and ICT.
