Service listings
Adding your service to the directory
- Click the 'Add a listing to the Lancashire Service Finder' button and complete the form.
- Tick the 'I'm not a robot' box and click 'submit'
Advice on how to submit a quality listing:
-
Before adding your service/group, check that it is not already listed by using the search function on the directory homepage.
-
If your service/group appears in the results, review and update it if needed. This can be done by going into the listing and clicking the 'Suggest a change' button.
-
If no results are returned, please continue to the registration page.
-
If you own or run multiple services or have multiple branches, register each one separately on the Lancashire Service Finder. If they share the same name, we advise adding the location to the title and/or description. Example: Mobility 4 All – Blackpool, Mobility 4 All – Preston.
-
Use the service’s own name not the overarching business name or the owner’s name in the ‘Name of Listing’ field. Example: 'Sunny Days Rest Home', not 'BrightCare Group'. If your organisation wishes to show ownership, this can be included in the 'Description’ or ‘Other comments/information’ section.
-
'Service email': this is what we will use to contact your service/group about your listing and where annual update reminders will go. Please ensure the email address you provide is an active and monitored inbox.
- At the bottom of the form, you will be asked to select relevant categories and filters for your service. Make sure this section is completed thoroughly before submitting the form. It will help your listing display correctly and make it easier for people to find your service. You may need to click the small arrow to expand the boxes.
-
The description of your service can be 250 words long and is a chance for you to tell users of the directory about your service and what it offers (ask yourself what you would want to know). Keep sentences short and avoid using jargon; this will make your description easier to understand, especially to residents.
-
Write your listing with longevity in mind, so it remains accurate and does not require regular updates. Avoid including specific dates or time-sensitive information, such as "we are 30 years old" or "Stay and Play – 11 August 2026". Note we do not publish one-off events as directory listings for this reason. If your service offers one-off activities, training courses, events, or sessions that change regularly, please focus on describing your organisation and what it offers. You can then signpost people to your website, social media pages, or contact details for the latest dates, timetables, and other specific information.
The more clear and comprehensive your listing is, the more likely it is to appear in search results and help people understand if your service/group meets their needs. You can also view an example listing to see the level of detail we require.
Making changes to your listing
Changes can be made to your listing(s) at any time.
- Go into the listing
- Click 'Suggest a Change'
- Update the information where necessary. You can also update the category filters (we may have added new ones since you first registered, so we recommend reviewing these).
- Tick the 'I'm not a robot' box and click 'Submit'
Each listing has a 'Last updated' date. You will receive a notification two weeks before the date shown requesting you review your listing. The email will provide instructions on how to do this.
